2025 Breeding Program

The primary objective of The Galena Homestead Katahdin Hair Sheep breeding program is to produce high quality replacement ewes.  We bred production animals selecting genetic traits that include rapid weight gain, multiple births, fertility and efficient feed conversion.

Our NSIP rams add maternal traits that support our breeding ewes program by increasing ewe milk production and fertility rates.

The Galena Homestead (GHP) offers a limited number of registered ram and ewe lambs each year.  We select our choice breeding pairs based on past performance focusing on achieving specific production traits.
